DIY FM stereo radio receiver module with volume control and automatic station search; a soldering electronics learning kit suitable for electronics enthusiasts.

Category:

This kit uses the GS1299 digital radio chip and peripheral circuitry to receive broadcasts in the 76MHz~108MHz frequency band. Channels can be switched via buttons. The sound quality is better than that of traditional FM radios. It supports headphones and can also be connected to an amplifier board via the headphone jack for amplified playback. In areas with a good signal, such as cities, approximately 15 radio stations can be detected. It is powered by a 3.7V lithium battery with a built-in charging circuit, allowing charging via a computer USB port, a mobile phone charger USB port, etc.
This kit can be used for basic electronics technology and skills training, electronics skills teaching, electronics process teaching, digital circuit teaching, and practical training for electronics enthusiasts and beginners to enhance comprehensive practical abilities.

Instructions for use:

1. Use VOL+ and VOL- buttons to adjust volume, and SEEK+ and SEE- buttons to select the channel.
2. Requires a lithium battery to function properly. Connecting the USB port charges the battery; connecting only the USB port may not function correctly.
3. When charging the battery, a red light indicates charging, and a green light indicates the battery is fully charged.
4. After connecting the battery and powering on, press the S+ button to search for channels before hearing sound.
5. Compatible with standard 3.5mm diameter stereo headphones with 3 contact points.
6. The kit contains four surface-mount components, which are relatively difficult to solder. Please assess your soldering ability before purchasing.

Soldering tips:

1. First, solder the surface-mount components, paying attention to the alignment of the notch on the chip with the original dot on the board.
2. Next, solder the USB port. The USB port has five thin pins. You can trim the three middle corners, or leave them intact (trimming prevents short circuits).
3. Then solder the LEDs. The longer lead is the positive terminal, marked with a “+” sign on the board. Resistors and inductors do not have polarity; inductors are green.
4. Use blue precision resistors (for better performance). 10k resistors are sold in pairs with color bands of brown-black-black-red-brown. 2.2k resistors are sold in groups of three with color bands of red-red-black-brown-brown. Monolithic capacitors and cylindrical crystal oscillators do not have polarity. The longer lead of the electrolytic capacitor is positive, as marked on the board. The color band of the 1N5819 corresponds to the white band on the board. Connect the BAT connector to a 3.7V lithium battery.
